Three clubs have already booked their place at the tournament: Paris Saint-Germain, Mexico's Toluca FC (the winners of the 2026 CONCACAF Champions Cup) and South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns FC (the winners of the 2025–2026 CAF Champions League). Then, on 28th November, the winners of the 2026 Copa CONMEBOL Libertadores will come in to complete the line-up.
On 9th December, Toluca will face the South American champions in the FIFA Derby of the Americas. The team that wins that match will then face Mamelodi Sundowns on 12th December in the FIFA Challenger Cup, whose victors, as mentioned earlier, will take on Les Rouge et Bleu in the final four days later.
