Florianne Jourde: "Learn alongside great players"

Women's football
The newly signed Paris Saint-Germain Women midfielder spoke to the club's media for the first time since her arrival in the French capital. In particular, she talked about her time in Canada, her relationship with Paris and her first impressions of the PSG Campus!

Floriane, welcome to Paris! How do you feel now that you're a Paris Saint-Germain player?

"I think it's a great opportunity. It's a dream for a young player like me to be able to take her first professional steps at a big club like Paris Saint-Germain. It's a huge opportunity and I'm very, very happy to be here. It's really a great honour. I'm delighted and now I can't wait to get out on the pitch and enjoy this adventure."

You come from the University of Southern California but you're Canadian. Can you tell us about your background?

"I'm 20 years old and I was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. I started playing very early, when I was three, and then I went to the youth academies in Quebec, so the Quebec teams, then the Canadian national teams and then university. When I was 18, I went to study in the United States, at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. And now I'm here."

Did you know much about Paris Saint-Germain before you arrived?

"Yes, of course, it's a very big club, with a following all over the world, and particularly in Quebec, where there are a lot of French people, so the club has a big following. And it's the biggest club in France. So obviously, if you're a French kid or a French-speaking Quebecer, as in my case, it's the club you look up to and where you dream of playing."

What goals have you set yourself at Paris Saint-Germain, individually and collectively?

"I want to continue to develop because I'm still young. I want to learn alongside great players, and there are a lot of them here. I usually play in midfield. I'm very competitive and I don't like losing. I'd also say I'm creative on the pitch. I'm left-footed with a real attacking temperament. I can't wait to play against the big teams in the Première League. It's going to be an honour for me to start and then try to impose myself on the pitch and help the team win everything. I'm going to do everything I can to help the team succeed."

A word about the Campus - you're used to very high-level facilities with the American university system, but isn't this something special?

"It's an incredible training centre. I don't think there's another one like it. Obviously in the United States there are some very fine facilities, but I find that here it's incredible. What's more, it's in Paris, so we're really spoilt."
