In Week 4 of the 2010-11 Ligue 1 season, PSG went down 3-1 away to Sochaux, who scored through Maïga (14’), Ideye (20’) and Perquis (45+1’). Guillaume Hoarau (50’) got on the scoresheet for the capital club.
Clearly tired after their late return from Tel Aviv, the Parisians had no answer to a Sochaux side that took its chances. In the opening 45 minutes, Sochaux had four chances and scored three times, as well as hitting Grégory Coupet’s woodwork.

But ironically, it was Antoine Kombouaré’s side that made the brighter start with Ludovic Giuly (9’) and Hoarau (13’) both going close to opening the scoring. But it was the home side that went ahead shortly after when Coupet saved from Maurice-Belay only for Maïga to pounce on the rebound and score (1-0, 14’).
But Sochaux weren’t about to sit on their lead and six minutes later Maurice-Belay picked out Ideye in the box. Ideye cut inside Mamadou Sakho and blasted the ball home past Coupet (2-0, 20’). The Nigerian striker then went within a whisker of getting his second when his shot cannoned off the post just before the break (44’).

It was to be a short stay of execution as Perquis pounced on a Boudebouz corner just seconds before the half-time whistle (3-0, 45+1’). PSG fought back after the break. Hoarau burst into the box and sent a clinical finish low into the net (3-1, 50’). But exhausted from their midweek European exertions, the Parisians could find the necessary resources to complete their comeback.
The Sochaux match marks the end of a run of five matches in two weeks for Les Rouge et Bleu. The Parisians now have two week’s without a game before taking on Arles-Avignon at the Parc des Princes on Sunday September 11.
