The Parisians suffered a heavy home defeat to Lorient on Saturday in Week 23 of the Ligue 1. A goal wrongly disallowed in the eighth minute marked the start of a nightmare evening at the Parc des Princes.
Eighth minute. From the left wing, Luyindula crossed to Hoarau who tried to nod the ball back across the face of goal towards Erding. Koscielny inadvertently returned the ball to Hoarau who stroked it home past Lorient ‘keeper Audard. The referee’s assistant raised his flag for offside, but the goal should have stood. The Parisians would not bounce back.
Les Lorientais opened the scoring with their first chance. Diarra was brought down by Armand. Penalty, converted by Vahirua (0-1, 24’). And just seconds later, Gameiro found himself clean through against Edel. The Lorient striker slid the ball between the PSG ‘keeper’s legs to double the away side’s advantage (0-2, 26’).

Antoine Kombouaré’s men, stunned by the incredible start, struggled to lift their heads. Amalfitano took full advantage, beating Edel with a chipped finish (0-3, 36’). Erding (42’, 45’) and Giuly (62’, 63’) tried to bring PSG back into the game, but Audard was in imperial form. Les Parisiens found no way back into the game and now have to turn their attentions to Vesoul, in the last-16 of the French Cup in midweek, before travelling to Toulouse next weekend in Week 24 of the Ligue 1.
