Vannes 0-4 PSG

Match Report | 2010-01-05 | 21:00

Paris Saint-Germain defeated Vannes 4-0 in a friendly match at La Baule on Tuesday, thanks to goals from Ludovic Giuly, an own goal from Leugueun, Jean-Eudes Maurice and Mevlut Erding. Antoine Kombouaré’s squad thus made the perfect start to 2010.

‘A chance to see the whole squad in action.’ That’s what Antoine Kombouaré wanted from the friendly game against Vannes, currently 11th in the second division. No less than 21 PSG players took part in the match. The starting XI made a great start. With the very first chance of the game, Giuly beat Vannes ‘keeper Gnanhouan, finishing off a Jallet cross (0-1, 2’).

Les Parisiens put the pressure on and forced Leugueun into a mistake as he put the ball into his own net after Gnanhouan had saved Maurice’s initial effort (0-2, 29’). Untenable down the right-hand side, Jallet crossed again for Maurice, who this time beat the home side ‘keeper (0-3, 38’).

Stéphane Le Mignan’s side barely had time to recover before Erding broke free and beat Gnanhouan, at the second attempt (0-4, 41’). The half-time whistle couldn’t come soon enough for Vannes.

Antoine Kombouaré made a few changes during the break... ten of them! Only Maurice remained on the field. The fast deteriorating state of the pitch and the freezing conditions made life difficult for the actors in the second half. But the essential had already been achieved: a great win, four goals scored, none conceded and it all bodes well for the New Year!
