PSG went down to a narrow 1-0 defeat away to Toulouses on Sunday. Antoine Kombouaré’s side were caught out by a rare Toulouse counterattack, finished off by Albin Ebondo (74’).

The matches are different, but it’s the same old story for Paris Saint-Germain. After another solid match away to Toulouse, Les Parisiens were beaten by a well worked team goal from Alain Casanova’s side – who otherwise rarely threatened Grégory Coupet in the PSG goal.

Yet it was PSG who made the more enterprising start. While Gignac carved out the first half-chance of the game (3’), the Parisians responded immediately through Peguy Luyindula, whose shot was turned behind Pelé (11’). Les Rouges et Bleus took control and Toulouse offered no goal threat for the rest of the half. Luyindula again tried to put the visitors in front, but his header was saved by the TFC custodian (43’).

The terrible state of the Stadium pitch was a real handicap to the skilful players, but didn’t seem to unduly trouble Toulouse. Gignac (48’) and then Sissoko (49’) both tried to fire their side in front but Coupet and then Mamadou Sakho intervened. Sessegnon then let fly, but wide of the mark (55’). Luyindula, sent through by Ceara, hit the post (70’), but the referee’s assistant had flag for an imaginary off-side!

The match turned on its head shortly after. Sissoko burst to the edge of the area before laying the ball into the path of Ebondo, who beat Coupet with an angled finish (1-0, 74’). PSG substitute Younousse Sankharé tried his luck from distance with a stunning 30-metre effort that was heading into the top corner before Pelé produced the save of the game with five minutes left to play.

There was to be no way back for Paris who must now turn their attentions to Sunday’s trip to the Stade Vélodrome for the clasico that everyone is impatiently awaiting! Rendezvous next Sunday at 9pm!
