In conceding a third consecutive draw, Paris-SG are sliding down the table, despite dominating proceedings against a Nancy side that made the most of their chances…
Played under the weight of a national day of tribute to Toulouse supporter Brice Taton, the match left a bitter aftertaste in the mouths of PSG’s supporters. Superior in all domains, Antoine Kombouaré’s side were unable to put their chances away and lost more ground to their title rivals at the top of the table. Despite taking just three points from a possible 12 (loss to Monaco, draws with Lyon, Lorient and now Nancy), PSG remain in fifth place in the standings ahead of Sunday’s Week 8 fixtures.Yet the Parisians proved once again that they are made of stern stuff. Indeed it took Stéphane Sessegnon just four minutes to cancel out Youssouf Hadji’s simple back post finish that had opened the scoring (0-1, 14’). The reaction was immediate with Bracigliano only able to palm out Peguy Luyindula’s effort into the path of Sessegnon who gratefully placed the ball home (1-1, 18’). Wasn’t that the hard part for Claude Makelele and Co.?

PSG’s attacking quartet were linking up well in the opening period while Nancy only mustered rare incursions into the Grégory Coupet’s box. In took a clearance off the line from Brison to clear another Luyindula shot off the line (36’).
PSG’s attack lacked the same cohesion in the second half, but Kombouaré’s side could still rely on the magic of Sessegnon to breakdown the packed Nancy defence. Sammy Traoré ceded his place to Christophe Jallet (56’) while Bracigliano could only look on as Sessegnon’s missile flashed passed his top corner (63’).

Excluding an N’Diaye foray which ended with a good stop from Coupet (84’) then latter stages were one-way traffic. Jallet (83’), Guillaume Hoarau (89’) and another Sessegnon effort from the edge of the area (90’) looked destined to give Paris all three points. But it was all to be in vain and Paris Saint-Germain now have two weeks to prepare for consecutive away games at Toulouse and then Marseille.
