Paris Saint-Germain returned from Brittany with a hard-earned point after being restricted to a 1-1 draw away to Lorient in Week 7 of Ligue 1.

A standing ovation was reserved for PSG’s Christophe Jallet as he made his way off the Stade Yves Allainmat. The right-sided player was making his return to the Moustoir and the club he played for, for three seasons.

But it was the only gift offered by the home side and its supporters. Indeed, Les Merlus provided stern opposition for PSG right from the opening whistle and Gameiro was the first to get a sight of goal, only to find an inspired Grégory Coupet standing in his path (13’). Amalfitano was the next to test the PSG defence as his effort ricocheted off Mamadou Sakho (25’). The Parisians weren’t simply spectators and Guillaume Hoarau tested Audard with missile of his own (16’).

Five minutes before the half-time break, the face of the match changed. After some good interchanging between Diarra, Vahirua and Gameiro, Mvuemba beat Coupet with an outside of the boot finish (1-0, 40’). Just as they thought they be enjoying e one goal advantage at the halfway point, Hoarau stunned the home side with the finishing touch o a brilliant team move involving Stéphane Sessegnon and Ludovic Giuly (45+1’, 1-1). It was Hoarau’s first goal of the campaign.

Driven on by the equaliser just before half time, PSG began the second period in ambitious fashion. Giuly (49’) and Peguy Luyindula (53’), however, couldn’t catch out Audard. Next it was Jallet’s turn, but his frmer teammate Audard turned the free-kick over the bar (73’). And when Audard was finally beaten, Giuly saw his effort cleared off the line by a Merlu defender (86’).

Les Parisiens return from Brittany with a point. After struggling in the first half, Antoine Kombouaré’s men dug deep and produced a vastly superior second-half performance and could even have claimed all three points.
