PSG made several changes to the squad that outplayed Lyon last weekend but still earned a 1-0 League Cup victory away to Boulogne-sur-Mer to qualify for the last-16 of the knockout competition.
Makonda, Ngoyi, Sankharé,Maurice… names that the Parisian supporters aren’t used to hearing in the starting line-up. And so it was a ‘Youth’ team that took on Boulogne at the Stade de la Libération. Both coaches decided to change up their starting XIs and the start of the match reflected a certain lack of cohesion early on. Boulonnais and Parisiens failed to carve out many clear cut chances in the opening period. Agouazi (12) and then Ducatel (16) tried their luck for the locals. The visitors responded through Maurice who found himself clean through against Koné, but a magnificent last-ditch tackle from Lecointe denied the PSG striker (30).
The second-half was a different story. N’Diaye shot just wide of Coupet’s goal (47) and Sankharé (49) and then Hoarau (51) went close to beating Koné. Then on the hour mark, Sankharé released Maurice on the edge of the penalty box. The youngster controlled and shot into the corner of the goal (0-1, 60’). It was the PSG youth products first goal with the pro squad.

The Parisian quit Boulogne with the victory they came looking for and qualified for the last 16 of the League Cup. Next up: Lorient away on Saturday.
