Led by a scintillating Stéphane Sessegnon, PSG – reduced to ten men after the 40th-minute sending off of Albert Baning and trailing on the scoreboard from the resulting penalty – managed to dig deep and equalise through Ludovic Giuly inside the final 20 minutes.

The match lived up to all its promise and more and was certainly a positive outing for Antoine Kombouaré’s side. Not only did PSG show great character in coming back to equalise while playing a man down, but also provided that little something special thanks to an untenable Stéphane Sessegnon – voted Man of the Match.”

Behind on the scoreboard thanks to Aguero’s penalty for a fairly innocuous challenge from Baning on the Argentine (1-0, 40’), PSG struggled momentarily before the break before re-finding their footing in the second period.

The eleven on the park – who hadn’t played against Rangers (0-1), never gave up, as was illustrated by Sessegnon, Kezman, Luyindula and Giuly. Deliverance finally came after a moments magic from Sessegnon who danced down the left flack before crossing for Giuly to level proceedings (1-1, 71’). Under the spell, the Arsenal and Rangers fans didn’t hold back in applauding the work of the Benin international playmaker and the former France striker!

Just moments later, the Parisians even had the chance to win it but left-back Sylvain Armand couldn’t pick out substitute striker Boli in the middle (77’). What a shame! No matter, the Parisians were straight back onto the front foot and it took a great last ditch tackle from Perea to strip Kezman (78’). Two Spanish efforts against the woodwork (57’ and 86’) somewhat tempered PSG’s domination, but it was a very strong outing just a week from the start of the Ligue 1 season.

Antoine Kombouaré will now concentrate on this final week of training at the Camp des Loges in Paris to fine tune his squad for the trip to Montpellier – a squad he knows has the necessary quality to get the result!
