After last Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Pontivy, PSG continued its preparations for the coming season with a new 2-0 triumph, this time over Ligue 2 side Nantes on Tuesday in Saint-Dolay.
Just as against Pontivy, Antoine Kombouaré began with a mixed starting XI featuring experienced professionals and young academy products. And just as against Pontivy, the Parisians prevailed 2-0. Both goals came in the first-half. The first came on 20 minutes when Sammy Traoré managed to deflect home Clément Chantome’s powerful free-kick past Jérome Alonzo in the Nantes goal (1-0, 20’). It was a deserved lead for Les Rouge et Bleu who had gone close to taking the lead through a Younousse Sankharé shot earlier in the half (13e).
Shortly after the opening goal, Peguy Luyindula set-up Mateja Kezman who side-footed home a second goal past the hapless Alonzo (2-0, 38’). Earlier, Grégory Coupet was forced into a courageous save to deny Dossevi (16’), while Christophe Jallet struck a 25-metre half-volley which flashed just over the crossbar (37’). Physically fresher than against Pontivy, Kombouaré’s men took a worthy lead into the half-time break.

As expected, the Parisian coach changed his entire eleven players during the break. But it didn’t affect the Parisian domination. Ludovic Giuly went close to adding a third, but new Nantes ‘keeper Kamenar was equal to the task (61’). Paris held on for a second victory in as many outings while the match also saw Guillaume Hoarau and Jérôme Rothen play 20 and 45 first minutes of the season, respectively. The squad now returns to the Camp des Loges to continue its preseason training.
