Paris has set their sights high at the start of this new season. In scoring three unanswered goals against Lille, PSG recorded a third consecutive victory and confirmed their place as one of the leaders with a devastating display at the Parc des Princes.
Right from the start of the match, PSG did what they needed to, and from a half-cleared corner Jérémy Clément let fly with a stunning half-volley that flew into the top corner from 25 metres out (1-0, 28’). What a goal! Moments later, Sessegnon went within a whisker of adding a second and Lille were already on the ropes.
After the break, Coupet had to be alert to deny Cabaye (46’) while Butelle in the Lille goal saved from Erding and Giuly (52’). Torn between looking for a second goal and keeping a cleansheet against the dangerous Lille players, Les Parisiens put their foot on the ball and slowed down the play. Finally, it was when the game seemed set for a 1-0 finish that Luyindula benefitted from good work from Sylvain Armand and Christophe Jallet to double the advantage (2-0, 78’).
In stoppage time, Jallet then got his own name on the scoresheet with that long range volley which slipped through the legs of Butelle (3-0, 91’). Le Parc liked the show and let the players know it. A third consecutive win of the capital club that can know enjoy the next two weeks work as the league takes a back seat to next weekend’s World Cup qualifiers.
