On the eve of Saturday’s game against Sochaux – his former club –striker Mevlut Erding looks at PSG’s current situation, from a personal and team point of view.
Mevlut, how are you dealing with the current situation at PSG?“It’s not easy at the moment. We’re putting away all our chances and it shows in the standings. We’re also have a few problems in defence. Maybe the defensive problem would disappear if the forwards scored more goals. Defending a score and keeping a clean sheet gets harder.”
On a personal level, you haven’t scored since the end of January...
“I’ve already been through periods like this during my young career. Sometimes, as soon as you get a chance, it’s in the back of the net. At other times, you can carve out loads of chances, but you just don’t score for several games. It’s all part of being a striker. You mustn’t lose confidence.”

Were you happy with the draw against Lens?
“It wouldn’t have been fair to come home without any points from that game. We got a point. Obviously it wasn’t a win, but equalising in the 94th minute allowed us to work well this week. It might be a turning point in so far as we didn’t give up and fought back. Now we have to go looking for all three points on Saturday.”
This weekend you’re up against your former club Sochaux. What do you think of their season?
“I think Sochaux are a lot better now than last season, when I played for them. And et I thought at the time that I’d helped them survive in Ligue 1 (laughter). I’m happy for them that things are going well.”
