Kombouaré: ‘Obviously satisfied’

Check out who said what after PSG’s French Cup qualification, 3-1 over Evian on Sunday.

Antoine Kombouaré (PSG coach)
“We won, we’re qualified for the next round and our two strikers scored the three goals. I’m obviously satisfied. I was, however, not happy with our difficult start to the game. I felt we were very fragile against a well-organised Evian side that defended well and hit on the counter. We needed to break out of our negative spiral. After Evian scored, we continued to get forward and we scored a third. Hoarau’s goal was very important because it came after three tough months for the player. He made a lot of efforts and it’s a great reward for him.”

Willy Grondin (PSG goalkeeper)
“Edel hurt his thigh and we didn’t want to take any chances. When you come on like that, you just try to do your best. We knew that the Evian team had nothing to lose. It was a shame to concede that goal, but the most important thing was the qualification. The ball took a bad bounce, I maybe could have kept it out, but it’s already time to put it behind us and move on. We’re qualified and now we have to prepare for our trip to Lyon.”

Mevlut Erding (PSG striker)
“The main thing was to qualify. This evening, we took our chances. We didn’t get many, but Guillaume (Hoarau) and I put them away. I get along really well with him off the park, so obviously we’re going to get along well on the pitch. After Evian scored, we stayed focused and got another goal with Guillaume’s strike.”
