On the eve of Monaco's visit to the Parc des Princes, Antoine Kombouaré talked about last weekend's loss to Lille and the need for the capital club to string together a run of positive results...
Coach, how have you dealt with the days following the Lille loss?"Above all the players needed to recover physically. We also needed to find solutions in training to our current difficulties and put the negative results behind and move forward because we've got a big game coming up on Wednesday."
What have you been saying to the players?
"The main thing has been to stick together, stay united, as a team. Then, individually, the players have to be able to turn the page because it's only one game. We're disappointed to have played badly, but like I've already said, you have the right to play badly once."
"Obviously. Now they have to show it against Monaco. We know there will be expectation, and we all want to see a great PSG playa great match tomorrow. We're playing a Monaco side full of confidence, that will be looking for back to back wins. There's also a bit of revenge in the air after the first game this season (0-2)."
Does your team have the quality to reach its goals?
"We've said since the start that it will be a long season. I'm not going to jump to conclusions after each game. We suffered a heavy defeat, but we're still not far behind the leading clubs. There's still a chance for us. But we can't stuff it up and we need to bounce back. When you're a competitor, you like this type of challenge. We're taking a few knocks, but we're not going to complain, we're going to keep moving forward. That's what I want and I know it's what the players want too."
