Kombouaré: ‘We’re played with humility’

Reactions | 2010-01-10 | 23:30

Check out what the Parisians were saying after their 5-0 French Cup triumph over local side Aubervilliers...

Antoine Kombouaré (PSG coach)
“It’s an important win because we were playing against a side we should beat. We did the job and showed a lot of respect for our opponents. I really liked the way we played because the players showed a lot of concentration. We showed how much we wanted to win this match. We put the pressure on and scored early. That made it easier for us. The pitch was in good condition so I’d like to congratulate the groundsmen. We take on Evian in the next round at home which is a good draw for us. But, like always, it will take a very good PSG for us to get past.”

Jean-Eudes Maurice (PSG forward)
“We played a good game. We were up against a good Aubervilliers side who will surely be promoted to CFA at the end of the season. The important thing was to win. We did it in style. We expected to play on a frozen pitch but in the end it was in excellent condition. Congrats to the grounds staff. With my penalty, I knew where I was going to place it. It went in... all the better for me!”

Clément Chantôme (PSG midfielder)
‘We knew it was going to be a tough game. We started well and we’re very happy with the result. We won and scoring five goals is also good for the confidence. On Wednesday we travel to Guingamp and the aim will be to reproduce a similar performance. I’m scoring a little more often this season and that’s great. I hope it continues. We have t be careful of Evian. We haven’t forgotten about our experience last year against National (Third Division) opposition, Rodez (1-3 a.e.t). If we’re focused, we should get through without too many problems.”
