Find out what the PSG camp was saying after their 1-0 loss away to Rennes at the Stade de la Route de Lorient in Week 18.
Antoine Kombouaré (PSG coach)“We did what we needed to do to stop this Rennes side from playing. We created some huge chances to score, like when Erding could have opened the scoring. It was a very even game and we conceded a goal on the counterattack and against the run of play. I didn’t like the second half when we should have shown a much greater control of the game. Edel did his job and prevented us from conceding that second goal and we had our chances, like through Jean-Eudes (Maurice). It’s a very big disappointment. We need to bounce back now against Grenoble where I want to see another side to my team. We need to finish the year with a victory.” Zoumana Camara (PSG defender)
“This defeat really hurts. Overall, we played a good game. We feel like we deserved better. While it was still 0-0, we had a number of chances. After Rennes scored, we pushed for a way back into the game. It’s frustrating because we could have won. It’s a setback, but we’ll try to finish the year on a high with a win over Grenoble.” Christophe Jallet (PSG defender)
“We’re frustrated and disappointed. We could easily have got a better result. We had chances to open the scoring but didn’t take them. We then conceded a goal five minutes before the break. We weren’t as good in the second half and could easily have conceded that second goal. Then we had the chance to equalise through Jean-Eudes (Maurice). We gave the three points to Rennes. Now we need to win them back against Grenoble.” Younousse Sankharé (PSG midfielder)
“We wanted to get a win from this trip, or at least a draw. We had some good opportunities in the first half but we didn’t make the most of them. We were up against a very good Rennes side. Personally, I’m very disappointed, because I lost the ball for their goal.”
