Camara: ‘Make up’

Press Conference | 2009-11-26 | 16:50

Parisian defender Zoumana Camara fronted up to the media on Thursday to chat about this weekend’s visit of league leaders Auxerre to the Parc des Princes and his recent return to competition...

Papus, is there a feeling of urgency concerning PSG current league position?
“You could say that. We haven’t been doing well enough, for a while now. Apart from our win over Sochaux, we haven’t recorded many points. The most important thing is react as quickly as possible, even if the situation isn’t yet critical. You can’t forget that we still have a game in hand.”

Have you spoken amongst yourselves about the Marseille game?
“The coach spoke to us at the start of the week. We know we didn’t play well. It was a very important match that means a lot for PSG. We played a poor match but we’re not about to drop our heads. We have to use the match to help us bounce back, keep moving forward and prepare for the coming matches. We need to know that we are capable of playing much better than that.”

How did you feel in your comeback game?
“I felt ready, in terms of all the work I’d done, including matches with the reserves and the friendly against Braga. I was a little worried about the rhythm and intensity of the match. But it was a little extra pressure that kept me concentrating on the game. Overall, I felt good.”

Auxerre, the championship leader are the next club on the horizon…
“It’s not a bad thing to be taking on the leader when you’re looking to make up for a poor performance. But it won’t be easy because Auxerre are coming of seven consecutive wins. They are full of confidence and quality. We’ll do whatever we can to defeat the leader. They’re a good team. But we have the quality required to knock them off. We’re preparing well for Auxerre and then we’ve got Boulogne the following Wednesday, in quick succession.”

Claude Makelele was charged and given a one-match ban after the match against Lorient by the Disciplinary Commission. Do you think Brandao should receive the same treatment for his tackle on Clément Chantôme? Is it inconsistency?
“We’re used to it now. It’s sad to say, but we have the impression that when you need to make an example, you take a PSG player. If there was to be another look at Brandao’s tackle, a ban wouldn’t be out of the question.”
