Claude Makelele has been given a one-match ban with a one-match suspended sentence, by the Disciplinary Commission following the game between Lorient and PSG. The Club reserves the right to appeal this sanction.

"Paris Saint-Germain is disappointed, shocked and concerned by the sanction inflicted on Claude Makelele by the Disciplinary Commission for a passage of play devoid of any brutality in a game in which the player himself was injured by an opponent.

"The Club feels once again that it has fallen victim of the media circus which envelopped the incident and which has cost its captain a penalty which it deems out of all proportion.

"The Club reserves the right to appeal the decision."
