On the eve of three consecutive away matches, Antoine Kombouaré discussed his players injuries as well as Sunday’s trip to Toulouse...
Coach, how is this second week of training going?“It’s going well. We started gently with a little bit of foot-tennis because it’s a long week. We’ve got six sessions before we play Toulouse and we’re going to keep getting stronger. We’re coming off a week in which we tried hard to recharge the batteries. This week our work will be based on power, speed and then tactics, with an eye on preparing Sunday’s game.” How are the injured players evolving?
“We’ve got a few back with us. This morning, Sammy Traoré and Papus Camara returned to training. Erding and Hoarau are working with Raphaël Fèvre, the physical trainer. They’re progressing well and they should be back tomorrow. We’ll take another look this afternoon to see whether than can rejoin the squad. At any rate, it all bodes well. I don’t know if they’ll all be back for Toulouse, but they should all be available for Marseille if everything goes according to plan.” What do you think of this Toulouse side?
“Toulouse had a great season last year, even if they’re struggling a little at the start of this season. They’re also playing in the Europa League and that has complicated things a little for them. They have some very good elements, some very good young players. They have two players in the France squad in Gignac and Sissoko, and France U-21 internationals such as Capoue. They are athletically and technically very impressive. Their game plan is based on winning back possession. Toulouse are defensively very strong and don’t concede many goals. In attack, they have players capable of making the difference, such as Braaten, Sissoko, Gignac, Didot… It will take a very good PSG to get a result on Sunday. Toulouse will have another good league campaign.”

Did you watch France’s latest World Cup qualifier?
“There were no surprises. Given what Serbia has achieved, I imagined France would be playing in the play-offs. That means my team will have to play three consecutive away matches. We have to try and get something from the trip to Toulouse and then back up with tricky trips to Marseille and Sochaux. But we’re ambitious and determined to get the results.” Football’s National Ethics Council has asked you to play a role instilling the values of football, especially respect, in young players. What do you think of this ruling?
“It’s not a penalty. On the contrary, it’s a real pleasure to go and tell the youngsters about values, especially respect. It’s a project that really means a lot to me. That’s why I don’t consider this ruling a sanction.” Check out the whole interview on PSG TV.
