Ahead of training on Friday, Antoine Kombouaré ended the talk about Claude Makelele, and prepared for Saturday’s visit of Nancy.
Antoine, how do you see this match against Nancy?“It’s a very important match, a match to win. We need to win to stay in contact with the leading five clubs. We’ve only taken two points from our last three games which isn’t good. On Saturday, we hope to play well, but more importantly, we hope to take all three points. Nancy are back in form. They played very well against Sochaux (2-1). They also have Chrétien and Dia back. I am very wary of Nancy and their excellent players.” How was September?
“Not good at all. October has to be a lot better. We had an ‘easy’ calendar and we were incapable of getting any more points. I hope against ‘stronger’ opposition we’ll do better, score more goals and earn more points.”

Will you welcome the international break?
“We’ll see afterwards. The first international break didn’t do us any good at all. We went and lost away to Monaco. We’ll try and get it right this time, but before then we have Nancy. The three points are absolutely crucial for us to stay in contact with the leaders.” Are you affected by the talk about Claude Makelele?
“If it was a young player, yes. But Claude has enough experience to deal with this. We spoke about it and he’ll be right for Nancy. He’ll play like always and try and push his side to victory. I need him and the others t win this game. We people attack my players, I’ll react. Other coaches should look after their own teams and players.”
