After a difficult start to the season with a troublesome groin injury, Guillaume Hoarau is getting back to his best and talked to us ahead of PSG’s trip to Monaco.
Guillaume, how was training today?“Good! We had a little practice game with an eye on Sunday’s match. This type of thing lets us work on a game plan and controlling the play.” How do you feel about the match against Monaco?
“This is still just the start of the season. Nothing has been decided yet and every game is important. We are in good form and we know what we have to get points. We’re going there to for the win. Monaco are playing good football. There have been a lot of changes and I think they’ll put up a good fight. We’re going to have to give it everything and stand up and be counted.” Your season has been upset by injury so far. How do you feel now?
“Only competition will show whether or not I’m good or not. I don’t feel any more pain and I’m back playing well in training. Today’s training, and the friendly against the UNFP (6-1) were good and helped me get back in with my teammates. Today I feel good, so we’ll see what happens.”

Have you set yourself any personal goals this season?
“Don’t get injured again! Everyone talks a lot about goals and assists, but after everything I’ve been through for the last three or four months, being healthy is the most important thing. Apart from that, obviously I want to keep building on what I achieved last season, but even stronger this term.” Do you think about the World Cup and the France team for 2010?
“Everything in its own time. At present, my main goal is to get playing again and play game after game. The France team is in the process of qualifying for the World Cup and everyone should do what they can to make it happen. That will come by playing well for my club, individually and collectively. Hard work always gets it reward. I’ve worked hard and if I am to be rewarded with an international cap, I certainly wouldn’t say ‘no’.”
