Kombouaré: ‘A great result’

Antoine Kombouaré, Christophe Jallet and Sylvain Armand look back at PSG’s 3-2 away win over Valenciennes in Week 3.

Antoine Kombouaré (PSG coach)
“It was a beautiful victory, even if a very difficult one. We thought we’d done the hardest part in scoring that second goal, but that superb Tiéné free-kick put us under pressure. We’ll take the three points, but we lacked mental strength and the ability to control the game. We were incapable of keeping possession and that let Valenciennes back into the game. We got ourselves into a bit of a mess, but it’s still a great result and a big weight off my shoulders to win here.”

Christophe Jallet (PSG defender)
“It was a tough old win. We had a good first half, despite a good start from VA who had us under pressure. We wanted the points and we showed it right from the start. We struggled a bit in the second half, even if we managed to score two more goals. I’ll remember a tough game, but three points. I’m happy to have scored, but the most important thing is the victory.”

Sylvain Armand (PSG defender)
“It wasn’t easy, but it’s still an away win. We all know how hard Valenciennes are to beat here. We did what we had to do, but it’s still a shame to have conceded those two goals, good goals that they were. We’re still improving, compared to the Montpellier match. We showed we know how to play football and we have to continue that to stay near the top. To play in my 300th match is good, but winning silverware is much more important.”
