Antoine Kombouaré, Ludovic Giuly and Sylvain Armand look back at PSG’s first win of the season in front of the club’s incredible fans!
Antoine Kombouaré (PSG coach)“It’s very satisfying. It was a really tough win. I loved the way the players fought. We had a great first half and despite that, we conceded the opening goal against the run of play. But the players never gave up, they kept on playing and we equalised deservedly though a brilliant goal from Erding. That was great for him. At 2-1 Greg Coupet produced a brilliant stop and we went on the score a third. I liked the players’ attitude, their spirit. There were doubts and questions. It was only one game, one victory, but it’s good for the confidence. We’re not going to let it go to our heads though. I also liked the reaction of the supporters, even when we were trailing they stayed right behind us, pushing us on. I hope the party continues like that!”
Ludovic Giuly (PSG forward)
“It’s always important to get the three points at home, especially after the average result last weekend against Montpellier. There was a great atmosphere tonight so it was a good night. I had four good chances to score in the first half and I should have put at least one of them away. I was starting to doubt myself, but I go the goal late on after a good ball from Kezman.”
Sylvain Armand (PSG defender)
“We never worried. We’re not going to start getting our heads down at the start of the season, even if the Montpellier result was a little hard to take. Tonight we conceded a goal due to a positioning problem, but we were mentally strong and fought back. Erding’s goal just before half-time was very important. I tried to get forward and combine well with the incredibly talented Stéphane Sessegnon. He tries to cut inside to open the left corridor for me but it wasn’t easy tonight because it was really hot!”
