Just days before the start of the Ligue 1 season, Ludo Giuly looked back over PSG’s preseason preparations before discussing Saturday’s match against Montpellier at the Stade de la Mosson at 9pm.
Ludo, how did the preseason go for you?“Very well. I didn’t do the whole preseason last year and it’s great to complete a full preseason with the squad. We worked well and didn’t have too many injury problems. We had a good camp at Port Crouesty, a good atmosphere and I think we’re physically ready.” Last season, not taking part in the entire preseason, did that penalise you throughout the rest of the campaign?
“Yes, because you don’t work in the same manner. The first three months of the season you try to play catch up and that’s not easy with matches every four days. It’s definitely better to have a full preseason training because physically, you have to be fitter. We’re like machines, you have to oil it well for competition.”

“We played two good games against quality opposition. In terms of team morale, we’re better off than we were this time last season and now I think we could play against anybody. Everyone feels good and everyone wants to have a good season. We’ve had some good friendly matches so to mess up the start of the season wouldn’t make sense. We have to stand u for the first match, this Saturday against PSG.” On Saturday, PSG travels to Montpellier, how are you approaching the game?
“We’re going to take on a promoted side who will be desperate to beat us. They’ll try and impose their rhythm on the game. Playing against PSG will be an added source of motivation for them. We’ll have to be careful, and focused. Montpellier have recruited well, especially some experienced players so we can’t fall into the trap of taking them lightly. We have to go out there and just play our own game.”
