Kombouaré: ‘We must win’

PSG coach Antoine Kombouaré and goalkeeper Grégory Coupet look back at the capital club’s 1-1 draw away to Montpellier at the Stade de la Mosson on Saturday.

Antoine Kombouaré (PSG coach)
“We whould have won and we should have scored a second goal. In the first half, playing with 11 against ten, I would have liked to see my side go for the kill. At half-time, I told the players to get the ball wide, to run at their opponents, pass the ball around with movement and cross. We tried to get forwardmore in the second half and I felt we were going to score. We did so but then we weren’t able to hold on, despite having done the hard part. We struggled in the conditions which were very hot. I thought we could have been a little more solid defensively. The players are very disappointed, but Montpellier deservedto equalise. We sat back and gave away too many free kicks.”

Grégory Coupet (PSG ‘keeper)
“It’s a disappointment above all. We have to bounce back immediately. We only have ourselves to blame for conceding a goal in the final seconds playing 11 against ten. We played fairly direct football where perhaps we should have tried to make them run a bit more. We could have been more patient. It’s a good point for Montpellier who really worked hard. We have to move on.”
