Le Guen: ‘A chance not to be wasted’

Coach’s Conference | 2009-04-18 | 20:04

As before every Ligue 1 match, Paul Le Guen fronted up to the assembled media and insisted on the fact his side ‘mustn’t waste the chance to rejoin the leading group.’

Paul, PSG president Sébastien Bazin visited the Camp des Loges on Friday morning…
‘Yes, I like it when he comes down to see us, when he can find the time to discuss the club with us. It’s always a good moment.’

Some of your players have played more than 40 matches this season. How are they coping with the fatigue?
‘It’s certainly something we have to consider. I hope, for their sake, that there will be more seasons like this for them too, it means they’ve gone a long way in the domestic cups and in Europe as well. They have to make the most of this experience and try and learn from it. Great players are capable of staying consistent over the length of a full season. I think, overall, they’ve done a good job.’

How are you approaching Sunday’s game at home to Le Havre?
‘We’re favourites, it’s true, but Le Havre have just beaten Monaco 1-0. We are taking on the bottom club in the league, a team that haven’t won many matches, but now have nothing to lose. But we do have the chance to climb back up the table and we mustn’t waste it. Our main danger will come from our recent matches, and recovering from them has been my main preoccupation this week. Sunday is another Ligue 1 match that we have to win. I think we’re mature enough to respect our opponents.’
