Rothen: ‘We’re very happy’

Paul Le Guen, Guillaume Hoarau, Ludovic Giuly, Stéphane Sessegnon, Sylvain Armand and Jérôme Rothen look back at PSG’s 4-1 home win over Nancy.

Paul Le Guen
“I’m delighted by how the game has gone. We had a moment of difficulty in the first-half when they managed to score their goal, but apart from that, we played well. We conceded a few chances by taking it a bit easy and getting caught out of position. We’ve played games where we’ve scored less, but controlled the game better. We scored early on which allowed us to play with a little more freedom, but I say again, we have played better – not that I’m complaining. But I’m really happy because there were a lot of good things too.”

Guillaume Hoarau
“It’s a great night for the whole squad. Our hard work has been rewarded with the three points. We’re enjoying a good run and we have to try and keep it going. We work very hard and give it everything out on the pitch for these results. It’s the price you have to pay to go as far as you can in each competition. And the further we go, the more confidence we’re getting along the way. Good results make it easier to play well and everyone is playing better and better together.”

Ludovic Giuly
“We played well. Everything went according to plan. It was important to get the three points, but especially in style. At 2-0, we took our foot off the accelerator a little, they scored, but luckily we got another goal before half-time and then a fourth. We didn’t feel like this Nancy team had us in any real danger.”

Stéphane Sessegnon
“We played a great game. It wasn’t easy. We played a big game in midweek and we knew it was going to be tough. Nancy are hard to play against but we got the three points at the end of a really good match and we’re very satisfied with our performance. I was lucky enough to score. Makelele gave me a good ball, I controlled it on the chest and took off. Guillaume (Hoarau) made a good run and he returned to ball to me. I had a bit of luck because it was a bit of a toe-poke. But it’s great to score because now I’m suspended for three games. It’s a shame with the matches coming up, but that’ the way it goes.”

Sylvain Armand
“At 2-0 after 15 minutes, we relaxed a bit and suddenly they’d scored. This season, though, we’ve shown we’re capable of standing firm after conceding a goal. At half-time, we talked about going on with it for the full 90 minutes. We need to get a maximum of points and keep playing well. Physically, it’s hard going playing every three days. But I had a great time playing at the Parc des Princes this evening and I hope we keep it up.”

Jérôme Rothen
“We’re very happy, because it’s not easy to play well every three days. We made it easy for ourselves by scoring two early goals. It’s good for the goal difference and it bodes well for the upcoming matches. Now we have to concentrate on recuperating as best as possible. Everyone is sticking to the coach’s game plan. And he’ll also look after the squad rotation in the coming weeks. The important thing is that everyone is operational.”
