Paul, in what state of mind are you approaching Wednesday night’s game against Manchester City?“We’re ambitious, we want to qualify. We’ve arrived here with a winning mentality. A positive result will allow us to qualify with our final game at the Parc des Princes against Twente in two weeks time. We have an established course of conduct since the start of the season: our priority competition is the Ligue 1. But that doesn’t mean we don’t want to qualify from this group. The team that takes on Manchester City, will be similar to the won which played against Racing Santander.”
Do you understand the league’s decision to not swap PSG’s match with OL?
“We would have preferred to play Le Mans on the Sunday, given our busy schedule. I’m disappointed, but not surprised. We’re coming off a very tough match against Rennes. It’s normal that the players are physically tired, even though the players were prepared for that.”
Manchester City is a team on the rise in England. Does that make this match all the more special?
“This is an important game because a good result will keep us in the hunt for a last-32 berth. It’s true that there’s a lot of talk about Manchester City, about their financial status, Robinho... but swapping shirts with our opponents isn’t what I’m here for. The important thing is the competition and the potential points on offer here.”
