The Coach says... Interview Paul Le Guen discusses last weekend's reserve match against Guingamp, his team's start to the season and the inauguration of the new Francis Borelli Stand, this Sunday, when PSG take on Nantes. Paul, you watched last weekend’s reserves match against Guingamp (0-0)… what did you think?
“The score was disappointing, especially considering the quality of the players we had out there. But, it was good to give a solid 90 minutes to those that haven’t played a lot in our opening matches. It’s not only normal, it’s important to get them into the right competitive rhythm.”

It also provided a chance to test other possibilities in defence following the injury to Mamadou Sakho…
“Exactly. We played Sammy Traoré and Grégory Bourillon in the middle of the defence. We also had them swap their positions at half-time. We’re just trying to be ready for any eventuality; especially considering Papus (Camara) is also suspended for the UEFA CUp clash next week. We’re looking for solutions. Sammy, Greg but also Larrys (Mabiala), who had a great preseason, can all play in central defence. Sylvain Armand can also play in the middle, but that will just push the same problem out to the left-back position.”

Before the Caen match, you said you’d prefer to wait until after that match before judging the team’s start to the new campaign. Now, how do you feel about the debut?
“It’s been largely positive. We’re not leading and we haven’t won every game. But after the Monaco match, we bounced back well and have earned some good results. We beat Bordeaux, got a good point from Sochaux and won against Caen. We weren’t really ready against Monaco, but we have managed to make up for the slow start.”

This Sunday, against Nantes, the Presidential Stand will be re-baptised the Francis Borelli Presidential Stand. What are your thoughts about that decision?
“It makes sense. Former president Alain Cayzac had the idea as soon as we heard about Francis Borelli’s death. It’s good that the club is able to remember its former president, coaches and players. It’s a really good initiative.”
