Bertrand Delanoë was at the Camp des Loges this morning for his traditional early season visit. Paris’ Mayor then spoke with the players…
Mister Mayor, does PSG play an important role in the image of Paris?“Of course it does. PSG represent a significant part of the city of Paris. Above all, it’s the sporting aspects which impact on the city, but PSG is the capital’s most emblematic sporting club. When PSG is struggling, the city also struggled. I want the vast majority of PSG fans to be as happy as possible.”

“First of all, I admit that I was really worried last season. I didn’t come in banging my fist on the table… but I did send a warning, which I wanted to be heard. I’m fairly happy with the way the season has started. I’m also happy with certain results. I’m not on the field of play, so I have to give my confidence to those that are. Confidence in the players, the coach and the President. We have to try and pull PSG back to the top, for the sport, football, and for the city of Paris.” You addressed the players… What did you say to them?
“I came here to offer them my full support and that of the city of Paris. I also told them, that even if they go through some tough times, they are part of a new chapter for the club. A new chapter of success, ambition and sporting spirit. I also welcomed the new players. I want them to feel happy and feel good here in Paris. Paris is a city of all the cultures, all the religions, of all races. I want them all to feel right at home… This is Paris!

| Charles Villeneuve: “Bertrand Delanoë and I have a lot in common; we both grew up in Tunisia. His presence here at the Camp des Loges is vital because the support of the Mayor of Paris is indispensable for the club. Bertrand Delanoë loves sport, he has shown through his support of PSG, the Stade Français rugby team and all the Parisian sporting clubs, and that’s why he is here to meet all the players at the start of the new campaign. He also wants to see PSG winning! |
