Suspended for the opening match of the season against Monaco, Stéphane Sessegnon will be making his league debut for PSG this Saturday, against Bordeaux. As he explained in this interview, the Rouge et Bleu midfielder is looking forward to it…

Stéphane, how was training today?
“We started with a big physical workout and ended with a few games. It was good, and y team won so it was very positive indeed. Even at training, it’s important to set yourself the aim of winning.”

Did you watch the game against Monaco?
“I didn’t see the whole match, but I was kept informed of the result and I’ve seen the highlights. It’s always a shame to lose a match in the final 15 minutes. But there are still plenty of positives to take from this first outing. We have to forget about the score and the mistakes we made and prepare for this weekend’s game against Bordeaux, in front of our fans.”

What do you think about this Bordeaux side?
“It’s a team that plays very good football. You mustn’t forget that they finished last season in second place. They’ve got huge potential and recruited good attacking players over the summer, which has made them even stronger. In their opening match against Caen, they came from behind to win. We’re expecting a very tough game a tough opposition, but we have the means to get a good result.”

You’ll be making your competitive debut for PSG at the Parc des Princes – are you feeling the pressure?
“No, no extra pressure than normal. For me, it’s a match like any other and I’m preparing for it like I do any other match. It’s an important game for the whole team, it’s our first home game of the season and we have to play for the right result. We need to mark our territory and show the rest of the league that we’ll be hard to beat at the Parc. Our first match is on Saturday and we have to be ready.”
