Arsenal won its opening match of the Emirates Cup against Atletico Madrid thanks to a brace from their Russian forward Archavin in a frenetic final minutes.

With the match seemingly set for a scoreless draw, Andrei Archavin opened the account in the 85th minute. German Pacheco responded immediately for the visitors (87') before an oppoutunist Archavin restored his side's lead following a mistake in the Atletico defence (90').
