In three seasons, Maxwell has played 128 matches with Paris Saint-Germain, including 26 in the UEFA Champions League, scoring eight goals. He has won both the French Ligue 1 championship and the French Super Cup twice, in 2013 and 2014, as well as last season's Coupe de la Ligue.
Maxwell has played for some of Europe's biggest clubs, such as Ajax Amsterdam (156 matches), Inter Milan (104 matches) and FC Barcelona (92 matches), as well as 72 UEFA Champions League matches, a competition he won in 2011.
Maxwell has also been crowned league champion in four different countries (Netherlands, Italy, Spain and France). Felipe Scolari called him up to the Brazil national team in August 2013 and he totals 10 international caps with the Seleçao.
Maxwell declared: "I am very proud of the confidence placed in me by the president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi and the whole Club. I will continue to give everything to help the club try and reach its objectives."
"Maxwell is an exceptional player who has brought so much to this club since he joined us. We are delighted that he has signed on for an extra year with Paris Saint-Germain, which is perfectly normal, given his investment on and off the pitch and the quality of his performances", declared Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi.
