It's a new European campaign, but it's another stunning start for the side from the French capital. Like last year when the Parisians demolished Dynamo Kiev 4-1 on 18 September, Paris ran out comfortable victors, but the win over Olympiacos was a lot longer in coming.
While it was Edinson Cavani that opened the scoring (19'), Olympiacos were quickly back on level terms in the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium, thanks to Vladimir Weiss (24').
But after the half-time break, the Parisians returned with renewed determination. Thiago Motta (68', 73'), twice, and Marquinhos (86') ensured the Paris Saint-Germain win. Obviously, it was a special moment for the young Brazilian:
"I am very happy, it's a very emotional night for me. It's a fantastic night. This is my first match for Paris, in the Champions League and to cap it all off, I score the first ever goal of my professional career."
But there was hardly the time to celebrate the win before Les Rouge et Bleu were back at the Ooredoo Training Centre. Having returned from Greece overnight and returned home on Wednesday morning, Laurent Blanc's side were back in training that same afternoon with the aim of preparing for the Week 6 Ligue 1 clash against leaders Monaco.
Edinson Cavani can't wait: "The match against Monaco is going to be a huge match! It will be a very tough game against potential title rival. Obviously we are going to give it absolutely everything."
