Coach, how do you feel at this moment as you officially take over the reins of the team?
"I'm very happy to be here for this press conference and to coach a club like Paris Saint-Germain. I know what awaits us, an exciting, but difficult challenge. Along with my staff, we will do everything we can to fulfil our objectives while also playing attractive football. It's another opportunity for me to live my passion. For that, I'd like to thank PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, Leonardo and Jean-Claude Blanc for their confidence."

You mentioned your coaching staff. Who does that entail?
"I come with Jean-Louis Gasset as assistant coach, that's for sure. We will take our time to compose the coaching staff. Claude Makelele? We both want to work together, and now we'll see, with time, if that happens. We want to be surrounded by competent coaches that share the same philosophy and passion as us."

Can you give us a word on Zlatan Ibrahimovic, one of the natural leaders of your squad?
"He is indeed an important player for Paris Saint-Germain and he will be coached like all the other players. He has proven that he is a great player and also a great professional and I hope he will be an example for the rest of the squad. He is one of the leaders and I hope he continues to lead the team to play to their best. I haven't spoken to the players yet, but I intend to as soon as possible."

How are feeling just four days from the start of preseason training?
"I'm thinking about the present and the future. My feelings are very simple: I want to prepare the team well and my coaching staff to meet our goals. The most important thing is the final product."

What are your objectives for the coming campaign?
"When a club wins the championship with 83 points and reaches the quarter-finals of the Champions League, the aim will be to do just as well, if not better, in terms of titles, in terms of points and in terms of the quality of our play. Paris are a great club, where demands are very high. We have the means to construct a great team so we should be competitive."

What type of football do you hope your team will play?
"The idea is to be audacious, while still maintaining a balance. We will try to win by playing good football, that's my philosophy. It's better to be audacious from the start, rather than prudent at the beginning and then audacious."

On Monday you will meet the players for the first time. How will you approach it?
"First of all, the start of preseason training will be staggered. At the end of June, certain players want be there because they are still playing in important international competitions (such as the Confederations Cup). On Monday, I will have a squad of 24 or 25 players. There will be experienced players, young players returning from loan, and they will all have the same objective: prepare for our first training camp in Austria."

Is this challenge with Paris more exciting than that of the France national team?
"I think working with a club is more exciting on a day to day level. Honestly, coaching a club and coaching a national team are two very different jobs. There is pressure and there will be pressure throughout the season because people will expect Paris Saint-Germain to win every match. Coaching a club means you are out there, under pressure and that's what I like. I would also take this opportunity to wish my predecessor Carlo Ancelotti, every success in his new job at Real Madrid."

Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, Paris Saint-Germain president:
"I am delighted to present to you the new coach of Paris Saint-Germain, Laurent Blanc. You all know him. Laurent was a great player, who played for the biggest clubs in the world, he was a world champion, a European champion. I am very proud that he is here today. He has signed with the club for two years and I have every confidence in him to reach our goals. I hope we will win the fourth Ligue 1 title in the club's history together this coming campaign. I would also like to thank Leonardo and Jean-Claude Blanc who have done well to make this happen. I am also very proud of our supporters. We already have 30,000 season ticket holders for the coming campaign, which is unprecedented for the club. I would also like to publicly thank Carlo Ancelotti who did a great job here for 18 months. I wish him all the very best with Real Madrid. Finally, I would like to confirm that both Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic will remain with Paris until the end of their contracts."
