PSG and the City of Paris: Joint Statement
After discussions with the City of Paris Mayor's Office, Paris Saint-Germain confirms its desire to continue to play its home matches at an entirely renovated Parc des Princes, which meets the highest international standards and reflects the club's sporting ambitions.
In order to give sufficient time to study the best architectural and environmental projects for the Parc des Princes as well as continue to provide excellent spectator conditions for the Club's passionate supporters, Paris Saint-Germain has proposed to undertake renovations in two phases.
The first phase will permit an excellent hosting of Euro 2016, and place the City of Paris at the heart of this international event.
Paris Saint-Germain and the City of Paris will begin important work in the coming months concerning the interior of the Parc des Princes and immediate surroundings.
This ambitious project will see a marked progression in the life of the Parc des Princes, focusing especially on improving:
- areas dedicated to players,
- spectator comfort via improved services,
- access and facilities for handicapped and disabled visitors,
- access and working facilities for the media,
- the concrete structure of the Parc des Princes with necessary treatments to ensure the longevity of the stadium,
- the viability of the Parc des Princes, featuring better water resistance and draining and a new sound and speaker system and infrastructure.
Following this decision, Vinci Concession, Colony Capital and Paris Saint-Germain are already hard at work in conjunction with the City of Paris to define the exact nature of this work.
At the same time as this initial renovation of the Parc des Princes with an eye on Euro 2016 is carried out, Paris Saint-Germain and the City of Paris will continue to meet and consider their options for the second phase of the renovation, aimed at supplying the Club with a stadium worthy of Europe's biggest clubs, focusing especially on improving:
- and enlarging the spectator capacity of the Parc des Princes,
- services provided for spectators and visitors to the stadium, inspired by the best international stadia.
It is essential for Paris Saint-Germain to take the necessary time to reflect and explore options to best define the vision and requirements to complete the evolution of the Parc des Princes post 2016.
The City of Paris is delighted by this decision which will meet all the UEFA requirements for a host stadium of Euro 2016 and also maintains the presence of the capital club at the Parc des Princes.
