The PSG squad training was scheduled for 10:15am at the Camp des Loges for their third session of the week on Thursday. Just 72 hours before another huge match in the history of the club, the squad started with a series of physical exercises before some passing and possession drills and small matches.
"Everyone knows how important this match against Rennes is," explained Brazilian defender Alex to PSG TV. "They are always a tough team to play against, but we really need to win. It's massively important for us. We need to be entirely focused for the full 90 minutes if we want to win."
PSG need to beat Rennes as they covet Montpellier's first place in the standings, with the leaders taking on third-placed Lille in Week 37. While PSG have traditionally held the upper hand in matches against Rennes at the parc des Princes (15 wins, 7 draws and 3 losses), Les Rouge et Bleu haven't beaten the Brittany side in the capital since a 1-0 win back on 28 October… 2006! Since then, the SRFC has won twice and drawn twice.
One Paris player knows better than most that this will be no walk in the park. But Nicolas Douchez remains confident: "The game against Rennes will be tough because they're a good team," declared the PSG 'keeper. "But we need to win at all costs. This will be a special game for me because I've got a lot of good memories of Rennes and a lot of friends there. I spent three great seasons there (2008-11). I had a ball! I really like that club!"
