Paris cruise to 2-0 win over Sochaux
Paris Saint-Germain defeated Sochaux 2-0 in Week 7 of the Ligue 1 thanks to a Kevin Gameiro brace (11', 33'). The fourth consecutive league win sees Les Rouges et Bleu close to within three points of the leader...
On Saturday afternoon at the Parc des Princes, Carlo Ancelotti's side was looking to complete a perfect five wins from five for September against Sochaux. And they began the match in style...
Javier Pastore, in the centre circle, released Gameiro through on goal and the France international, one-on-one with Pouplin, made no mistake with an ice cool side foot finish to open his account for the season and fire PSG in front on the night (1-0, 11'). Bakambu tried to get his side back in the game with a long range effort that Sirigu boxed clear (22'). Momoents later, Matuidi inherited possession at the back post only to see his shot flash agonisingly wide (25').

Paris Saint-Germain then struck again. Maxwell broke down the left and crossed low for Gameiro, who looked like he wasn't going to get there. But the capital club striker threw himself at the ball and got the decisive touch beyond Pouplin (2-0, 33'). It was a two-goal lead that the home side took to the break, despite an Alex header, well held by the Sochaux 'keeper (43').
Sochaux came out firing in the second half and Doubaï's header flew just wide (58'). Van der Wiel, who made his home debut at the Parc des Princes in front of 44,552 spectators, raided down the right and crossed for Ibrahimovic who controlled before finding Gameiro with a flying backheel. The former Strasbourg striker's acrobatic effort was only centimetres off target (67')! The Dutch full-back was a constant danger to the visitors and he picked out Gameiro with another cross, but this time Pouplin made the save (77').

In the final seconds, a Jallet missile KO'd Kanté (89') and Hoarau saw his curling effort flirt with the top corner (90+3') as the Parisians looked to add some volume to their victory. The final whistle confirmed a fifth consecutive victory for the capital club, in all competitions; the ideal way to begin a busy week for Ancelotti's charges who travel to Porto in midweek Champions League action and then to Marseille next weekend in a top of the table Ligue 1 clash...
