Nene, on Saturday, PSG take on Arles-Avignon. Are the three points a must for you?
“We’re coming of the back of three consecutive defeats and we’re playing at home so we’re obliged to win! It’s crucial for us to win our confidence back. We need to make a good start to this month of September. During the international break we’ve worked hard, physically, psychologically and defensively because we need to be more solid at the back. The coach talked to us a lot to help us get as much confidence as possible for this game.”

What is the team missing mentally?
“I don’t think we’re lacking anything mentally. Against Bordeaux we played well and just lacked that finishing touch in front of goal. Against Sochaux on the other hand, we didn’t play very well. You can’t be good all the time, but the result is all that counts. Winning when you play poorly is better than losing when you play well! You have to try and win every match and that’s the bottom line.”

How do you judge your season so far?
“Pretty good. I was a little disappointed not to play against Sochaux. But that’s the law in France. I’ve settled in well and everyone has welcomed me well. Not just the players, but everyone at the club has been great. I feel right at home and that lets me focus on the pitch. At every training session and in every game I keep trying to play better.”
