“I feel good. Preparations are going very well. It’s always tough to get back into training because of all the physical work. But already, it’s the turning point of the season. It’s by working hard now that we’ll have a good start to the league season. The season starts now.”

Did the training camp at Aix-les-Bains go well?
“The nine days we spent in Aix went well for everyone. There was a great atmosphere. We worked hard together and we had a good laugh together. That’s important ahead of our first match, against Saint-Etienne. We have to stick together if we want to win and get our season off to a good start.”
Was it good for your confidence to score against Malines?
“It’s always important to score goals. It’s my job. In every match I play, I hope to score at least one goal and, of course, grab my team the win. I scored twice in three pre-season friendlies. That’s can’t do my confidence any harm at all – on the contrary.”

What’s your objective in terms of your goal tally this season?
“The idea is to always do better. When I arrived last summer, I wanted to do better than the 11 goals I scored for Sochaux the season before. I ended up scoring 15 league goals. So the bar is necessarily higher now. Scoring ten Ligue 1 goals would be great, but if I have the chance to score more than that, I won’t pass it up.”
Are new boys Mathieu Bodmer and Nenê settling in well?
“We gave them a warm welcome and they’ve settled in well. We’re already at the stage of practical jokes and taking the mickey in the dressing room. The important thing is that this good relationship is felt out on the pitch. I don’t need to remind anyone of the quality those two lads have with the ball at their feet, everyone in France knows already. PSG must have recruited them for a reason.”
