“The first thing is to get back to defending well. We need to reproduce the performances of the three matches prior to the Marseille game, in other words, not concede any goals. Up front, we have the potential to cause them problems and score goals. But the main thing is to get back our defensive solidity.” Can you squad focus purely on playing football at the moment?
“Obviously, at the moment, we have a very poor public image. The image of some of our supporters, and our results, isn’t getting any better. We can’t just sit back and watch what’s happening. For us, we need to win matches. The hardest thing is to put all everything that’s going on around, out of our minds. There are decisions being made out of our control. The best thing we can do is to get back to winning ways as quickly as possible.”

What do you think about this Lens team?
“They’re very good at home. They beat Marseille impressively in the French Cup, 3-1. Then they beat Monaco, 3-0. They have a lot of good individuals and are defensively very solid. They have some very good players up front such as Jemaa, Monnet-Paquet, Boukari, Maoulida and Roudet. We have to be careful.” Do you feel a little exasperated?
“No. This is my job. I’ve only been here seven months and I’m working. I never lose hope. I love my work. I know there are times when everything works and others when it’s a little tougher. I’m going to keep working, I want to find solutions and give my players to the ability, the desire to bounce back and win matches. That’s what I’m all about. For the rest...”
