Edel, how do you feel a day after the Cup qualification against Aubervilliers?
“I’m going well! It was a great we that sees us start the second half of the season and the New Year in the best possible fashion. We needed to prepare well for this heavy week. We’ve done that the best way with the qualification. Now we need to win against Guingamp to head to Lille in the best conditions.”

The game against Guingamp, on Wednesday, is coming up very quickly… Do you approach these Cup matches differently?
“Yes, but a match is still a match. You never know what might happen. Cup matches are sudden death so we’re going to Guingamp to qualify. That’s the only thing going through my head.”

Is winning one of the two Cups an aim for you?
“Yes, especially because I saw what winning a trophy was all about two years ago when I was on the bench for the League Cup win over Lens. Now that I’m playing, I’d love to win one of the Cups.”

You’ll be up against your former goalkeeping teammate Mickaël Landreau at Lille on Saturday…
“Micka contacted me after Greg Coupet got injured. He motivated me, told me that it was up to me to play now and not to think about it too much, just to do it.”

Will you be watching the Africa Cup of Nations and your teammate Stéphane Sessegnon with Benin?
“Of course! I’ve spoken to Stéphane a lot on the phone to see how he felt after what happened with the Togo team. I hope Benin have a great tournament, but I also want Stéphane back as quickly as possible with us here at the club! I think Cameroon are going to go all the way. I’ve got a lot of friends in that squad and I know their coach, Paul Le Guen, very well too.”
