Coach, the winter break is almost here… How would you sum up the first half of the season?
“We have to wait for the match against Grenoble with a very, I hope, positive result. Then I can judge the season so far. For the moment, I expect more from my team.”

What do you need to improve in 2010?
“We need positive results. The victories that we’re all waiting for. For that, we need to work hard and the players need to understand that we need to show certain qualities, a certain approach and belief every day. Every team wants to beat us, so we have to be ready. To play against PSG is a huge source of motivation. We need to be ready. Every weekend, it’s a new battle.”

And that will be the case against Grenoble…
“It’s the perfect example of a dangerous match. Our opponents will be visiting with plenty of ambition and motivation. If we’re not ready, it could be tough. I’m expecting my players to bounce back after Rennes. We need to win and head on holidays with our heads held high.”

Are the players putting enough into their season?
“They are putting in the effort, but they don’t realise that its harder here than elsewhere. That’s very important. When you play for PSG, every weekend is tough. Everyone wants to shine at the Parc des Princes. Away from home, I’ve never seen a club more hated. Other club’s supporters hate us and motivate their players. It means a lot of tough games and you have to be ready.”

Will the club be recruiting during the mercato?
“I’m going to watch tomorrow’s game. A win will place in good stead for the second half of the season. Only then will I see what we can do with our options. We have the potential to finish in the top six – now we have to fulfil that potential.”
