After a light training session on Sunday, Christophe Jallet looks back at the 1-0 home to defeat to Nice and ahead to the upcoming friendly match against Portuguese side Braga as preparation for the trip to Marseille.
Christophe, how have you analysed Saturday’s loss to Nice?“You could say we didn’t deserve to lose, but that’s football. We had our chances and we didn’t take them. Les Niçois caught us out on the counterattack and took all three points. It’s a shame, and its very frustrating. Our poor results continue and that doesn’t help us move forward. We really wanted to take the three points for a win to climb a little further up the standings.”
All these goals conceded in the final minutes are proving very costly...
“That makes it ten games out of 11 that we’ve failed to keep a cleansheet and it’s often in the final seconds that we concede. As a result, if we haven’t scored a few goals, we remain at the mercy of a counter. If we couldn’t win against Nice, we shouldn’t have lost either.”

So far this season you’ve been playing right-midfield, how did it go at right-back?
“Whether I play full-back or midfielder does change much really, except that I have to defend a little bit more. I tried to do my best and get forward as often as I could. If we had got the three points I would have enjoyed a good weekend, but at times like this, the team performance comes ahead of the individual.”
The match next week against Braga will see you stay in form ahead of the trip to Marseille...
“For the players that haven’t played so much recently, it’s important that they get back on the pitch. We’re together every day at training, but matches are different. It’s obviously better to play a game than have an extra training session. We have to play well against Braga because it’s important to start a new positive series of result. If we can start with a win over Braga that would be good.”
