Stéphane, you played with the Benin national team in June, how did that go?
“It went really well. We played two games for a win and a loss. Even though we played well in the game we lost and could have won it – I still have regrets. But going home and representing my country is always a great experience.”

Last week, you signed a new contract extension with PSG – was that a relief?
“I was very relieved to sign the new deal, even if towards the end of last season I had a few offers. I needed to make the right choice. My priority was always to remain at Paris Saint-Germain, so I’m very happy that that is what happened. It took a bit of time, but in the end, the most important thing is that the Club and I found the right compromise so that I could stay.”

How was the return to training with the reserves?
“Monday morning was very hard (laughter)! It’s great to be back on the pitch, even if it’s not easy at first. It was hard on the legs during the morning jog but we played a bit of football in the afternoon and that was a lot more fun. The most important thing is getting back to playing football.”

What is your preseason programme?
“I’m staying with the reserves this week and will do whatever the coach asks me, then I’ll rejoin the first team on Saturday.”
