Le Guen: ‘A great end to the season’

Reactions | 2009-04-19 | 19:47

PSG coach Paul Le Guen, Marcos Ceará, Ludovic Giuly, Mamadou Sakho and Jérôme Rothen all give us their take on the Week 32 L1 home win over Le Havre...

Paul Le Guen (PSG coach)
“I’m very happy with how my players played tonight, from start to finish. They remained focused, disciplined and organised. They didn’t always have the physical freshness they needed, but mentally, in terms of the concentration, they were perfect. These three points see us well positioned on the ladder with six games left to play. It promises to be a great end to the season. The home fans have been a huge support this year and I think they are a very intelligent footballing public. They’re right behind their team and that’s very important. I take my hat off to them.”

Marcos Ceará (PSG defender)
“It won’t be easy to win the title. Marseille are five points ahead of us. Perhaps we can qualify for the Champions League. That’s the first goal we’re working towards. Last season, I didn’t have a great campaign but that was to be expected. Paris will always be a magical place. The supporters are always right behind us and we’re going to do whatever we can to reward for their support.”

Jérôme Rothen (PSG midfielder)
“We did what we had to do. It was important to get another win. It wasn’t easy. Before the match, everyone said the three points were in the bag but these types of matches are never that easy. We’re in a good position now with a little gap over Toulouse, Rennes and Lille. We’ve got a huge match coming up on Friday against Lyon. We have to be up for that one.”

Mamadou Sakho (PSG defender)
“We made a good start to the match. It was vital to get the three points tonight, especially after the loss to Dynamo Kiev. We needed to bounce back and launch our print for the top three. Now we have to keep up the pace.”

Ludovic Giuly (PSG forward)
“The most important thing was the three points tonight. Le Havre came here with nothing to lose and we had to be careful. We controlled the game well. And of course, it’s always nice to score.”
