Paul Le Guen (PSG coach)
“We struggled at times during the match, but we fought our way back into the match thanks to our strength of character and the things that went our way. The wins sees us back into the top half of the table. We made mistakes in defence and you can’t think we’re going to be able to fight back each time. We need to be consistently stronger. Concerning Jérôme Rothen, he will never be a typical left-back, and he’s not there by choice, but he did his job and did exactly what I asked of him. Now we need to turn our attentions to the next two tough trips away to Schalke 04 and Marseille. It won’t be possible to use the same starting XI in both matches. The youngsters continue to improve and they are capable of doing a job. Loris Arnaud’s contribution tonight is a symbol of that.”
Christian Gourcuff (Lorient coach)
“The injuries to Rafik Saïfi and Fabien Audard definitely had an effect on the result. We could have done better but we also showed our weaknesses. We played well in periods but we need more consistency to turn these losses into wins.”
Jérôme Rothen (PSG midfielder)
“We won and that’s the important thing. It’s never easy getting all three points against this team. We’d lost to them here for the last two years and their early goal didn’t make it any easier. We were behind twice but we played a solid second half. We showed enthusiasm and had the bit of luck which let us get the win... a great win.”
Grégory Bourillon (PSG defender)
“We’re very happy to have built on the point we earned away to Nancy. It wasn’t easy because we didn’t make life easy for ourselves in that first half. There were goals, even if we would have preferred there were less for Lorient, it was spectacular and thrilling... I hope the fans had a good time. For us players, we’re happy with the win. Now we need to get a couple of good away results at Schalke 04 and then Marseille next weekend.”
