Appointed as coach in June 2013, a year after the end of his tenure as coach of the French national team, the World Cup 1998 winner has become the most decorated coach in Paris Saint-Germain's history. In addition to the two Ligue 1 titles he won with the club in 2014 and 2015, Laurent Blanc has also added a Coupe de France (2015), two Coupes de la Ligue (2014, 2015) and three Trophées des Champions to his - and the club's - trophy cabinet.
Since his arrival, the former France international - who is an unabashed proponent of beautiful football - has oriented the Red and Blues towards an attacking style, all the while instilling a winning culture in a squad filled with international stars and some of the game's brightest prospects. With Laurent Blanc on the bench, Paris Saint-Germain are looking more than ever to keep shining on the domestic front while continuing the ascent towards the summit of Europe, at a time when the club is preparing to get back into UEFA Champions League action.
"It is with great pleasure that I have just extended my contract as coach of Paris Saint-Germain, said Laurent Blanc after putting pen to paper on the deal. I would like to thank the club for the faith that has been put in me. Since the beginning, I have felt honoured to work for such an ambitious club and it is extremely satisfying to coach such talented players. I hope that I can continue make Paris Saint-Germain a brilliant and respected ambassador of French football."
"I am extremely proud and happy to see Laurent Blanc continue his association with our club, declared Paris Saint-Germain Chairman and CEO Nasser Al-Khelaïfi. Over the past three years, our coach and his staff are writing with their team a glorious page of the Club’s history, winning trophies and setting records. All conditions are clearly there to opt for stability. I always trusted him as well as believed in his ability to keep taking our team higher each season, while at the same time having them play a beautiful style of football that our fans, and football fans in general, really enjoy."
