An historic date

Fourty years ago, on the 28th of July 1970, PSG underwent their first training session at the Camp des Loges.

On Tuesday the 28th of July 1970 at 18h30, it was time for PSG to return to work. Under a cloudy sky with thunder rumbling, the squad of the newly formed Parisian club, led by their captain Jean Djorkaeff, started their training session.

An historic date! For the first time in their history, the Parisian players stepper out onto the pitches of the Camp des Loges for a first emotion filled training session. All the directors of the new club of the Capital were present to immortalize this exceptional event: the President Pierre-Etienne Guyot, who was barely out of his hospital bed after a heavy operation, his partners Guy Crescent and Henri Patrelle, accompanied by the rest of the PSG board.

The manager Pierre Phelippon explained at the end of the session: “The most important thing is to speed up the integration of the amateurs with professionals. There is always a little rivalry in the background. But, I’m convinced that in just a few days that everything will be sorted out. They must not disappoint us and they will stick together”. Guy Crescent solemnly declared to the players: “From now on you belong to a family. Paris Football-Club and Saint-Germain, are no more. Now we are PSG!”
